The newly formed Campaign for Alternatives to Isolated Confinement will meet on Thursday, March 7, 6:30-8:00 pm, in the library at the New York Civil Liberties Union, 125 Broad St, New York, NY. To RSVP (required for building security) or obtain call-in information, contact Nate Vogel at NVogel@nyclu.org.
This key organizing meeting is open to all who wish to get involved in the work of CAIC. Formerly incarcerated persons and family members of the currently incarcerated are especially encouraged to attend, as are advocates, concerned community members, lawyers, and individuals in the human rights, health, and faith communities throughout New York City and New York State.
THIS WILL BE A GREAT EVENT I CANT WAIT TO SEE EVERYONE IN PERSON.. OUR FIGHTS HAVE ALL BEEN CONCENTRATED INTO ONE CAMPAIGN DEDICATED TO CHANGE, IT WILL GIVE US ALL A FACE BEHIND THE HEARTS WE ALL POSSES
I strongly support ongoing efforts to end the grievous injustice of prolonged solitary confinement, which violates our Constitution and has been openly and rightly criticized by the United Nations official monitor ( I forget the precise title of his position) on human rights. I believe this is a vital element in the fight to end mass incarceration in this country.
THANK YOU MARK ..YOU ARE SO RIGHT A SOCIETY CAN TRULY BE JUDGED BY HOW THEY TREAT THEIR INCARCERATED. WHEN IT COMES TO SOLITARY CONFINEMENT I RECENTLY SEEN A PERFECTLY WORKING EXAMPLE OF ITS PRINCIPLES, WHILE AT A HOCKEY GAME I SEEN A FIGHT HAPPEN AND THE TOOK THE AGGRESSOR AND PLACED HIM IN THIS LITTLE BOX THEN AFTER A-WHILE THEY JUST LET HIM OUT AND HE IMMEDIATELY WENT BACK TO FIGHTING AGAIN ., WITH NO CORRECTIVE MEASURES IMPLEMENTED PEOPLE ARE JUST BEING CONTAINED NOT CORRECTED.
